This morning, Mason, Tanner, Grandma Thayne, and Grandpa Thayne paid Peyton a visit. Peyton's face lit up so much when he saw Mason. He immediately said, "Mason, I missed you!". It was so stinking cute!
Grandma brought him a present - a beanie baby dog. He saw it and said it looked like Zoe (G&G Thayne's dog). He just sat there and gave it lots of hugs. Mason brought Peyton a present as well but it took Mason a little while longer to give it to him. He got him some playdough. Peyton thoroughly enjoyed making animals out of the playdough with Grandma while Mommy and Daddy took Mason and Tanner on a walk.
(Can you guess which animal is the elephant, the mouse, and the bear?)
Peyton also wanted to give Mason a hospital buddy like his. So, we called the Child Life Specialist and she brought one for Mason. Mason had to draw a face on his buddy as well.
She also put together a doctor kit for Mason and a nurse kit for Peyton. They were so cute. They had gloves, a hat, a mask, chest tubes, etc. that they can use on their buddies.
We had lunch with everybody at the hospital and it was so much fun to have visitors. Peyton cried when it was time for them to leave.
I thought for sure that Peyton would fall asleep after they left. But instead, he wanted to play a video game and watch TV. He played a Tigger game on the Playstation but had a hard time pushing the buttons because of his pulse ox. And I think he started to dose off so we turned it off. He watched some shows but never fell asleep.
He also had another visitor...a dog. There was a volunteer wandering around the hospital with his dog and showing the dog to the kids. Peyton absolutely LOVED it. The dog put her paws on the bed and Peyton was able to pet her. He had a big smile on his face the whole time the dog was in his room. The owner gave Peyton a business card with the dog's picture on it and we hung it on the wall with his other pictures.
Then Derick and Natalie came by with dinner! We always love people that bring food. We ate pizza with them and had a nice little chat all while sitting with Peyton on the bed since he wouldn't let me leave his side.
We also decided not to pull the chest tubes today. Peyton's chest x-ray this morning looked a little more hazy than it did yesterday so they will keep the chest tubes in for one more day. I had to agree with Bonnie (the NP) when she said that she would rather keep them in a little longer than pull them and have to put them back in.
So for today, we have had visitors and fun pretty much all day long...not too many pokes or visits from doctors and nurses. It's been a pretty good day!
Oh, and here's a video of Peyton fishing in his bed!

Sounds like a relatively calm day which is great. I hope that the cloudy discharge resolves without being Chylo so you can get rid of chest tubes! We hope that you all get some good rest tonight!
Can I bring you some food? I was thinking chocolate :) Make a wish and your request will be granted!
