First Day of School 2013

We have survived the summer and made it to the first day of school for the new year.  Mason is in third grade this year and Peyton is in first grade.  Mason's teacher is Miss Pace and Peyton's teacher is Mrs. Dayton.  They both had a great first day and we are looking forward to many more great days.  Their teachers seem to be amazing!  And Mom likes a little bit of time with only two kids during the day!

Last Day of School

We made it to the end of the school year!  The boys are so excited for summer.  I'm ready to be able to sleep in a little bit but I'm sure the novelty will wear off real soon.  I'm hoping to keep the boys pretty entertained so I don't have whining and complaining all summer long.  Both boys had top scores in all areas in their classes.  They did so well this year!  I can't believe how far Peyton has come.  He could barely write his name when school started last fall.  Now he is a pro and is reading and writing.  Mason is still at the top of his class.  He is so smart and loves to learn.  Hopefully they will both want to continue learning and reading through the summer.

Date Night With Peyton

Montana and I realized the other day that every time we have done something with just Peyton, it has always involved the hospital.  We decided it was time for him to have a date.  So, I fed Austin and away we went.  Peyton got to choose where we went to dinner and what we did afterwards.  He picked McDonalds and then we headed to Fat Cats to go bowling.  It was great for Peyton to get some one on one time with just mom.

Eggs

Every year we let the kids dye eggs for Easter.  And this year was no exception.  They had so much fun!  And they did a really great job.  We also talked about the resurrection while doing this activity.  I can't believe how smart the boys are.  They knew every answer to every question that we asked them.  I really couldn't ask for better kids!

When the egg dying was over, Tanner went into his room and shut the door.  Somehow the door got locked.  We have lived here for 3 1/2 years and I didn't know the door even locked!  We couldn't unpick the lock.  So, Montana finally just busted the door open.  Needless to say, it won't be getting locked again any time soon.  And now we need to replace a door!

St. Patrick's Day

This year, the leprechaun made an appearance at our house!  He turned furniture upside down, made a mess of books and movies, and left golden treasures everywhere he went.  When the boys woke up, they couldn't believe what the leprechaun had done.  He also left a basket of goodies and Lucky Charms for breakfast.  And he turned the milk green!

For dinner we had pesto and noodles, green fruit salad with green Cool Whip, and green Sprite with mint chocolate chip ice cream in green cones for dessert.  I would most definitely call our day a success!

Park City and Ortho Doctor

Peyton had a doctor’s appointment at Primarys so we decided to take everybody and head to Park City afterwards.  There is a Lego exhibit at the Kimball Art Center right now.  There were only a handful of lego creations but they were so cool.  I put Mason in charge of the camera and I think he took a picture of every single creation!  After the exhibit, we walked down Main Street and found an ice cream shop.  It was fun just doing something with the kids!

So, Peyton’s doctor’s appointment…  It was with an Orthopedic specialist at PCMC.  Back in October, we realized that Peyton’s hips didn’t line up with each other.  He also has a leg and a foot that are longer and bigger than the other side.  We took him to the pediatrician and he referred us to an Ortho specialist.  We finally got in to see the specialist.  They took x-rays of Peyton’s legs and hips.  Then we talked with the doctor.  If we didn’t do anything for this discrepancy, Peyton would have about an inch difference in the length of his legs by the time he stops growing.  So, they want to put screws into Peyton’s knee on the long leg to slow down that growth.  We will go back in to the doctor around Peyton’s 7th birthday and reevaluate before we do anything.  There is always something new with Peyton!  He likes to keep us on our toes!
