Heart Cath

Peyton is in the cath lab right now and we are just waiting to be buzzed. He was having quite a bit of anxiety before they took him back. He didn't want to be weighed or have his height checked and then he wasn't happy about having is sats taken and his heart listened to. So, we opted to give him some Versed. It took a little bit to get it down but he relaxed quite quickly after he swallowed. He was a little loopy and he didn't even really care that we were leaving him in the cath lab. (He even got to ride in a wagon!!!) We told him that we were going to go on a walk and come back and get him and he seemed fine with it.

The cardiologist told us that the cath will last about 3 hours unless they just take pictures. We are planning on the full 3 hours! It's been an hour already! He will be taken up to the Post-Op Recovery area after the cath to be monitored for awhile. If they have to coil any unnecessary blood vessels then we will be staying at hour home on the hill over night! We are kinda planning on that but only time will tell. They are also going to check his pulmonary arteries to see if they are a decent size for his next surgery. If they are not, they will try to balloon them open and insert a stint if necessary.

We will update again when he's done and we know the results of the cath! Enjoy the pictures!
