First Day of School 2013

We have survived the summer and made it to the first day of school for the new year.  Mason is in third grade this year and Peyton is in first grade.  Mason's teacher is Miss Pace and Peyton's teacher is Mrs. Dayton.  They both had a great first day and we are looking forward to many more great days.  Their teachers seem to be amazing!  And Mom likes a little bit of time with only two kids during the day!

Utah County Fair

Last year we went to the Utah County Fair and loved it so we thought we'd go again this year.  We always enjoy walking around, checking out the exhibits, and ending the evening watching the rodeo.  This year we invited Dave and Bert Shearer to come with us.  It was lots of fun and we thoroughly enjoyed the company!

The Bobcat

Mason earned his Bobcat Award for Cub Scouts.  He had to finish the requirements for his Bobcat before he can start on his Wolf requirements.  He has done so well with Cub Scouts so far.  And I even got a pin for this one!  He earned so many awards at this Pack Meeting because he had also gone to Day Camp a couple weeks before this meeting.

Pioneer Day

Living in Utah, you get to celebrate Pioneer Day!  Provo puts on a huge fair/carnival type event.  There are tons of kids activities and games, old cars, people performing, and food.  All the kids stuff is free and the kids get to experience what the pioneers did and went through.  We love this event and look forward to it every year.

Staycation

We decided to have a staycation with the kids this summer.  We each got to pick one thing we wanted to do.  We ended up staying in a hotel in Orem, swimming at the hotel, miniature golfing, the BYU Paleontology Musuem, and eating lunch at the BYU Creamery and dinner at a restaurant.  We even added a little Krispy Kreme run at about 8:00 at night just for fun!  We had a great time and it was so fun to get away from everything for a little bit.

Cub Scout Day Camp

Mason had the opportunity to go to his first Cub Scout Day Camp.  He was not excited to have his picture taken before he left but he most definitely had an awesome time.

The Circus is in town!

My parents live in a city called Plain City.  It is a smaller city and you get to experience some of the small town things.  This year, a big tent circus came to town!  So, of course, I had to head up there for the kids to experience it.  In the morning, we were able to go to the park and watch the tent be put up.  We got to see the animals that would perform and ask questions about the circus.  In the evening, we all went to the circus.  It was so hot inside that tent!  During the intermission, we stepped outside to have some relief from the heat.  But, it was still a lot of fun and really neat to see this type of circus!
